Charles Finney, the youngest of 15 children, became one of the most influential evangelists in the Second Great Awakening. He was a professor of Oberlin College in Ohio, and became its second president. He was a leader in the slavery abolitionist movement, frequently denouncing slavery from the pulpit. He wasn't content to simply regulate it. He wanted to abolish it, being convinced from Scripture and reason that slavery was sinful and against the will of God.
Jesus said that as we treat the least of these, that's how we treat Him, and that's how we are going to be judged (Matt.25). Pro-lifers consider the preborn to the "the least" in our culture - the most defenseless, helpless human beings threatened with suffering and death. To our culture, they are.
But who are "the least" to pro-lifers?
